Thanksgiving Hatch Day

Hi all,

Well I'm back at it again. Little did I know that setting my eggs last night put my hatch day on Thanksgiving. I'm hoping for several chicks this time around.

AussieSharon sent me 13 beautiful dark Welsummer eggs. They really are gorgeous.

I am also "armed" this time around with an auto egg turner. I've never hatched more than 2 chicks in a batch (never less either except for Zero). I am hopeful that this will make some difference. I've always been good to turn consistantly 3 times a day but there's always been times where the time between has been too long. This turner makes a complete revolution in 4 hours, which would be like turning them twice I guess.

I'm going to keep this post updated, although honestly, there won't be much "new" info until I candle. I usually don't bother candling at least till day 10.

Anyone else out there with a Thanksgiving hatch day?

I did the same thing! My Barred Rock Eggs from Cynthia (Speckled Hen) are due to hatch on Thanksgiving day.

Well, it's hard to believe it is day 11 already. We're over half way there. I was going to candle last night but I ran out of time. I'm planning on candling tonight. I'll post back with the results.

So far the temps and humidity has all been stable, so I've got my fingers crossed.

Well the candling didn't go well at all. It looks like I've only got 2 eggs out of the 13 that look possibly good. Pretty disappointing

There's always next time.
