Thankyou for the advice, it is much appreciated

I have just purchased a rat trap as rats attack hens by nbbing at their feet, at their neck and their urine leaves diseases. Trap should arrive by the end of the year

Wow.
I had no idea rats could be that aggressive!
Chickens are much bigger than rats. So its startling that they would go after something bigger!

I hope it works out for you.

But how you keep the chickens out of the rat trap? They like the same kinds of baits.

OK, so maybe if you used some kind of pipes or bucket with small opening and weight on it (with trap inside), you could make it so only the rats can reach the trap and not the chickens?

Maybe this can help you to make sure you don't trap the wrong one.

But the chickens can stretch their necks also in reaching for things. And this should be accounted for also.
