It’s been a few months since I incubated last. My last hatch was during Hurricane Ida in August. 6 months is enough downtime, right? Right.
My d’Uccles aren’t laying right now, which stinks since they’re in a breeding trio with my d’Uccle cockerel. Could have had some homegrown babies for the first time! 2/3 are show quality, so they could have some lovely babies.
Due to heightened avian flu risks I don’t want to bring a roo in to breed with my 4 standard hens/pullets. If I do decide to incubate again, I’ll have to get fertile eggs from a friend.
I’m using a Brinsea Mini II Advance, holds max of 7 standard eggs and 12 bantam/quail eggs. I will not be keeping any. I say this now, but I really really don’t need any more birds. I’m supposed to only have 3 hens in the city, and I have 6 hens and a bantam cockerel
I’ll update if I do decide to incubate!
