I just got back home after going out shopping. My husband & I stopped at a yard sale. It was at one of the few properties around here that has peafowl - a pair of india blue.
We bought a couple books & were leaving to go home, when the lady asked,"You are the couple that came out here asking about peachicks, right?"
"That's me." I replied.
Well, she proceeded to tell us that her hen laid 18 eggs so far this year, but wouldn't sit.
She had just taken out the last batch of eggs... 7 of them. They were in a bucket by the garage. She gave them to me - FREE - and told me she'd call me if the hen laid any more!!!
So I put them in the incubator.
After searching all summer for chicks or eggs (and finally arranging to buy chicks) someone just gives me eggs.
I'm getting the 2 blackshouldered chicks soon, maybe one of these eggs will hatch! I only set 5... one was cracked & one had rolled into a puddle & was covered in stinky mud.
Wish me luck... again!
