My dear mother used to get so aggravated when people would ask her if she was part of the Mexican Race.

She would ask "There is a Mexican Race? Where? How long a race? Is there an entrance fee? Is it a Mexican Race for charity?"

She cracked me up.

Seems folks are confusing nationality with race.

The census has no business asking for ethnicity.

23 years ago, while filling out our marriage certificate, When it asked for race OR ethnic background on my wife I put "Freckled" and on mine I put "Human".

If we all put "Human" they'd stop asking the question.
