Your welcome, say thanks to Marty not me! LOL

AWESOMEthat its free!!! I cant wait to understand it all better, I am heading to our state class next month with DH and some PA BYC's and I am sure will learn a ton! The blood drawl practice not sure of, but if I can treat bumblefoot successfully, I can try a blood draw right?

Hi everyone, quick question - I am hoping to set some eggs from our 4 Delaware hens for the hatch-along, (they will be purebred because our only rooster is also a Delaware right now). The hens are just starting their 2nd year of laying after molting (they will be 2 yrs old in April) and several of them have been giving me these HUGE Extra Large size eggs! I weigh all of our eggs now on a digital scale and these Delaware eggs are weighing 2.30 oz to 2.60 oz! And this is not a one time double yolker, it is consistant!

SO...is this good or bad for hatching chicks? At first I thought the bigger the better, because it would be a larger healthier chick, but then I read in that article on Hatching problems that Sally, or someone posted yesterday that Large eggs can be a cause of delayed hatching.

What do you all think? Is it ok to use the Jumbo Eggs?

Yes!

Double yolked eggs are bad for hatching. Bigger eggs are great for hatching.

Small little pullet eggs are not the best to hatch.

Now that's addiction :).
Does she have a web site? Love to see that!

No, and she doesn't even sell except for eggs! She generally doesn't let anyone out to her farm but we hit it off and now my 13 yr old son is working for her cleaning pens twice a week! I'm getting some eggs from her this weekend to get for a member (sorry I can't remember user name on here I'm bad about that!) and hopefully will get some more eggs once my hatch that started today is finished. I did set 3 red golden pheasant eggs and two african geese eggs from her last week. Maybe next time I go out I an take some photos to share!

The best I will get is a silk rose-- which I actually do like because it lasts forever. SOme men get it others don't-- not the worst thing in the world IMO to not get. I will make the flourless chocolate torte today because it makes me happy-- and I"ll share . :)
Of course it's not the worst thing in the world. I'm very grateful for having a (mostly) wonderful man

I know he loves me, so I'm not REALLY complaining... well, I am, actually. Like gardeningmama, I've been asking and asking if he could pick up half a dozen eggs from a farm he drives by once a week. They only cost 90p. *sulk*
Be careful what you wish for... Last year (Lord I hope he doesn't see this) DH did all this stuff in the bathroom, big bubble bath, rose petal soap, candles, a teddy bear, beautiful card, left me in there alone to relax alone with no kids. Sound nice? I sat there mentally adding up all the money he spent, and all the chicken things I could've bought with it. Instead, I smiled and said how thoughtful, and lovely it all was. For a solid year I asked for chicken anything, statue, knick-knacks, keychains, chicks, and as of yet, NOT A ONE!! Some men just don't get it!

Lol that DOES sound nice. You want to know what I got him? I'm REALLY glad I got this now... a T-shirt folding thing like Sheldon uses from the Big Bang Theory. He really struggles folding shirts and t-shirts, so it made me think of him. It got delayed because of the snow, but I can't wait to see his face. That'll teach him to make jokes about buying me minced horse. (disclaimer: people are welcome to eat horse. I'd just rather have a live one.)
