Got two from the assist.... One did the job herself after I made an external pip for her.... Took her all night to zip. She's got that tilty head back thing. I started giving her sugar water and will buy vitamins later. I couldn't find where the beak was in the Araucana egg...
sad.png
it passed sometime in the last two hours as I was stupidly waiting to see if it would turn at all.....

The silkie is the last one.... I was able to remove enough shell to find the beak and make an internal pip... Almost no bleeding .... It's in there gasping away right now, but the assist article said that's what happens at this step. All I can do is pray.... So that's what I'll be doing until I see veins disappear ... I have to go to work in 2.5 hrs, but ill be home on my lunch break to check her 4 hrs later.... Praying I can save her.... My two strugglers are still holding on.... Not sure if they will make it.... They look bad....

I am so sorry How can they be helped you mentioned Baby vitamins ? Can you use Electrolytes like Pedialite ?
They need B vitamins for Wry Neck. Baby vitamins without Iron(iron is bad for them).

Good job on the assist!

I have to tell you guys, if you didn't try this for snacking your girls, try it! It rocks!
You will make best friends with the shyest of them! and yes its MannaPro !

My goats always seem to know when I have an egg in my pocket and choose that moment to jump on me...

They must have a sixth sense about eggs because my goats have done the same thing! It's actually always "Queeny" our nubian cross. She doesn't want anything to do with me until I have an egg in my pocket, lol.

Charlie, my husband's coon dog, has done it too. Again, he doesn't pay much attention to me normally, only when I have eggs it seems.

Come on everyone, get them in!
Ends Tomorrow, Wed!

Who doesn't need Hatching eggs from Chookschick?

Hubby would say me! LOL.

I pretend that I don't see him roll his eyes or hear him sigh...

. He did say that I can hatch as many eggs as I want, of whatever breeds that I want, so long as it doesn't require him to do expansions on the coop or run AGAIN. Woohooo!! All I heard from that is I get to do what I want. LOL!!

Having temp issues.
barnie.gif
I have an hour and a couple of minutes to get this right.

Multis wasn't working so from what I remember

The Princesses in Tiaras was adorable!!

And every chicken first aid container should have a bottle of Polyvisol WITHOUT IRON included in it. Wry neck can be taken care of almost immediately, but you need to continue the vitamins for a few days to make sure it doesn't come back. It can also be used to grown birds, and it lasts for a long tme. Only a drop or 2 here and there and you're good for a long time, so if it seems expensive, but you intend to hatch, especially shipped eggs, it's goint ot be a money saver in the long run when you don't lose weak or twisted chicks.

OK back to figuring out what's up with temps.

Where do you keep your temps Wolf? I like to keep mine around 97 at lock down, and it was only 95 in one of the bators, so had to adjust mine a bit too this morning. They are old enough now, that you don't have anything to worry about..you probably know that already.

Editing..I think I will go and get some of that Polyvisol. I have so many eggs that are going to hatch...ahem..I hope. I don't want to run across this and not have the right thing on hand. Thanks. :))

Wolftracks, can you help me out a bit..... Can you list your suggestions that everyone have available for assisting and chicks health? I am going to post a "Get your brooder Ready" I could use the help on the other end, or anyone can post suggestions too! I just wanted to get the topic rolling so everyone has stuff ready! I made the assist article but I have yet to actually add a materials needed list!

A REMINDER for LOCKDOWN…

DO NOT ADD OPEN CONTAINERS OF
WATER THAT chicks can DROWN IN to raise your humidity!
ADD A screen or nylon with rubberband around It so chicks KEEP OUT!
Clean SPONGES/rags are always best! EVEN SHAMWOWS are great!

Adding notes from Ron: Sponges can be sterilized in a micro wave. Wet the sponge and squeeze out the excess water. put it into the micro wave for a minute to a minute 20 seconds and the heat will kill the bugs on it!
