The 4th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long

Hey all! I'm not quite done yet. I have one that pipped last night around 7 that had made no progress this morning.

I set on 3/9 and still have several eggs that show no sign of internal pip or anything. When I candled, almost all of the egg is dark except for a few little parts below the air sac. What does this mean? Could they still be alive or are they dead? 3/4 Olive Eggers and 3/4 Wheaten Ameracaunas are all looking the same. (the 2 of those 8 hatched yesterday and Saturday night.

I am hoping they are still alive, but when I candled and didn't see an internal pip and some air space below the air sac, I got nervous... suggestions?

Looks like my Brooder lol. Black sexlinks ALL black, Olive Eggers ALL black, Japanese Bantams 2 black 2 yellow. Did your Yellow one come from a Black Sexlink egg?

I think I'm done, too. Still have three that looked good at lockdown in the bator with zero activity, plus three questionables I locked down just in case, gonna candle them later today and make a decision. They're only on day 22, but everyone else hatched day 20 (two late day 19) so I suspect they quit. Totals to date are:

28 hatched
34 locked down

I suspected I was done late last night, but I always wait until Day 25, as I've had surprise late hatchers. This morning another chick had hatched. So...maybe not a final count yet. Preliminary count: 13 of 24 shipped eggs have hatched. So I have some Speckled Sussex at last, plus some new Orps, blue, splash and drum roll *> : Lemon Cuckoo! I am over the moon.

1 still working on it

I may have only come out of this hatch with 3 chicks, but at least I have 2 broodies sitting. So this hatch wasn't a complete loss. It never is when you get chicks! I know what went wrong and I know it won't happen again as far as outside interference goes. That's all I can ask for.
