Ugh! Two of my roosters have disappeared. The door to the bachelor pen was open and two were missing. I must not have latched it well yesterday. There was a pile of feathers near the door.  They were gorgeous fellows. I didn't need them and actually had a new home for one, but I hate that they met a violent end.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE !!! Have a great Monday! Watching the news, drinking my coffee and catching up in some post on here. Looks like we are going to have a freeze warning tonight here in middle Ga.:/ going to cover up my tomato plants.

Okay.. three happy and fluffy chicks in the brooder...4 pips.. one pipped overnight.. I have to say I am quite surprised that nobody hatched ALL night... this is the SLOWEST hatch ever. I bumped up the temp by half a degree. It has to be that my temp was off. I can't think of any other reason for it to be taking this long. This is day 23 now...

Question about the ones that haven't pipped: I have to go to work in an hr, and won't be home until almost 5. (That's 10 hrs.) ...

When I get home, should I try pipping the ones that haven't hatched? There's a silkie egg in there that I'm just dying to have hatch, and it was rocking like mad last night, but there's nothing happening now. Same thing for MANY others... they've been rocking for almost 4 days now.. are they unable to get into position?

I've read the "assisted hatching" article. I am trying to be very good and wait wait wait... I just don't want to wait so long they exhaust themselves and die before they can pip.

Sad to hear of all the losses lately. I've heard a coyote calling to my dog yesterday. My dog doesn't fall for their tricks! Preds are definitely more active lately.
There's still too much snow here to free range my birds. Ugh! Can't wait for warmer weather!

I have chicks that want to play outside and in their new pen, instead of being in the garage. I have winter blues and want to see some flowers

Okay that is it, I'm going to start spring today and plant some veggie seeds.

well he gets upset that Bandit always wants to sleep with me WHY because He Snores and no one can sleep when that train comes crushing Down ,

So i notice when the egg popped Bandit was with mark i told him keep her in the front yard do not let her out back went to go potty and He ignored me . What do i do i go out back she is rolling in turkey putrid egg pile from those Nasty eggs sent to me for hatching YUCK .
mark desides he is gonna take a Nap .
OH yeah OK i said im off to bed for good would you keep your dog out of my room and NO i did not tell him Why because he is older then me and did nto listen when i said DO not let her out back.

so he goes to nap i let his dog in with him and i swear he was like OMG whats that smell and the more he moved away the closer she would get thinking this was a Game . PAYBACKS BABY ,.anyhow he ended up sleeping after bathing his dog on the couch but i also taught him how to do laundry Winks God works in mysterious ways . One IM A RED HEAD .

Good Morning All! Well, as much as I don't want snow, it sure is pretty here. We have dodged all but one snowfall this year, so.... I am not happy though that the kids now have to go to school the day after Easter. Second year in a row that Spring Break is only a three day weekend. I just might not send them anyways!

First I have to say congrats to all of the beautiful new babies and pips! Second I am so sorry for everyone's losses. I have to say I had a bad day too. Been very sick today. And this morning I went out to nursery to water and feed babies and turn eggs and everyone was doing great. So took meds and went back to bed. Woke up at 4 and went to nursery cus kids went out at noon for me. And I found two of my turkens dead. They were still warm. I wanted too ball. My first NN and now I only have one left. Why? Why? I loved them so much. I don't understand. Ugh. Such a sad day.

I'm with you! I am having winter blues too and this tease of warm weather doesn't help matters, Friday and Saturday we were out doing yard work and today it's snowing!!! :S
