That sort of looks like what I have going on, although instead of the milky appearance they're more sappy brown. I believe it's a dud anyways, but THANK YOU for sharing that link! So much information! I think 5/8 shipped eggs developing well is pretty good personally! Should I go ahead and remove those 3?
I had some seepers in my last batch. They were a darker brown too. I would definitely chuck it if it's seeping. Mine looked just like Sally's pics above, not as many spots, and darker, but seeping just the same. They can get funky really fast. If the others aren't seeping I would keep them in. Good luck with your hatch!

(HELP) Im at Day 17 and still in the tunner and I have had 6 hatch whats going on? I have looked at the other eggs no piping yet. Is this Normal or not? What do I do stop turnning them and go in to lock down? Someone please Help I have rare eggs I don't want to lose any. Thanks for any help!

We've got two pips both on silkie eggs and now just waiting...... Lol my son is having a lot of fun with chick number one already, I haven't gotten him out yet but Noah keeps running to the bator and 'checking' on him lol I keep telling him that he and all the eggs need rest, apparently falling on deaf ears.
I feel so bad for the little guy or gal he is all alone and is clearly making it known hes not happy about it lol... I think I will put him in the brooder before bed later, I don't want him knocking the eggs all night.

Tomorrow is day 18 which is lock down day, chickens normally take 21days to hatch although can hatch earlier or even a few days later. Remove the turner and bring your humidity up to 55-60% and keep it there the best you can. Some do this by wetting a sponge and placing it in or if you have an incubator with a plastic tray for adding water you can do this. Dont add to much at first, play with how much will keep your humidity at optimal levels for how long without dipping to low or getting to high. That's what I've done and is working ok now.
Also forgot to add, you can either lay the eggs down on their sides on some shelf liner or you can sit them upright with the bottoms cut out for air circulation. I have chosen to lay them on their side.

Good luck

Candled again on Sunday night - down to 45 in the bator, 3 under broodies. Set my African Goose eggs, but now my old incubator won't keep temp

- must take a lot more energy to keep those suckers warm! Lockdown is on Thursday. Gonna build a bigger brooder out of old windows today so I can shift batches of peeps around. I just have to share this little story too - I have a 22 yr old son who has Down Syndrome. We got in the car last Friday to head to the 'big city' and he asked where we were going. I told him we were going to the big city to pick up chicks and he nearly peed himself laughing like a little school girl at the prospect of him and his mom going to pick up chicks!

Here are a few pics of the chicks we picked up - GL/SL/BL Standard Polish. We also picked up a few old biddies and a Salmon Faverolle rooster! LOL And here is a photo of my son visiting a local touring farm where he got to see 'real live dinosaurs' aka Emus and hold an Emu egg :)
First of all.... LOVE the pics... Second... My kid also has "designer genes" :) my almost 6 year old has Down syndrome. That story is awesome... :)

Losing a chick tonight. It can't stand up.. It spent almost 24 hrs in the egg after pipping. Something seems to be wrong with its leg on one side, because it keeps falling over and lying on the same side. I'm sad.

Still no pip with the Silkie or Araucana (sp?). One of the Wyandotte pipped, and I'm pretty sure the other has internally pipped. Today is day 24.... How long is too long to wait to help those that haven't internally pipped? I can't find a beak on either of them, so I'm not even sure where to start if I did help... I can see the beak (I think) on the other....

hey guys checking in....wow ya'll can talk about a storm ....... i decided to 'kill' a rooster today (okay so i just sold him :plbb) he went in to attack my broody hen and crushed an egg , with a live chick in it. :hit the poor thing died before i could figure out what to do :hit so 13 eggs left under my broody. i also had a little banty cochin, that i thought was killed by a hawk weeks ago, reappear today......... she had been hiding in the straw shed, and emerged with 4 little cochin mutts in tow :woot i'm so glad she is back and brought me surprise :celebrate
