It's probably dry, just gunky. I leave mine be unless they cannot move body parts. They will work the gunk off and fluff up in a couple of days. You can wash them in warm water, but you have to be careful to not chill them.

Ok Thank you I will let it be for now and see what happens Its really trying to move around alot so its seems Healthy Just sticky!

Wow...a lot of updates!! I've been down with a bad tummy, but I guess I need to get up and go down to check the incubator. I separated them all into identifiable groups when I added water to the Sportsman, so it should be okay if there are chicks loose...I only had one peep and no pips when I last checked. I'll be back and report!!

Looks like I'm done. I have two more eggs in the bator that I will be surprised if they do anything. 7 hatched out of 12 set. 58% hatch rate. Not my best hatch, but not my worst either. Now I'm just waiting for these guys to fluff up a bit more, then I will snap a couple pics for the cutest chick contest and then send these guys up the road to their new home.

Congrats! have you candled, tapped and listened to the remaining?

My hatch finished up today. Pretty happy for setting mostly pullet eggs, questionably frozen eggs from our ridiculously cold March, and USPS roughed up shipped eggs, lol.

Total Set - 83 [53 homegrown; 30 shipped)
Early losses - 37 [19 homegrown; 18 shipped] - Mostly pullet eggs that had just started laying, air cell problem shipped eggs.
Total to Lockdown - 46 [34 homegrown; 12 shipped]
Total to Hatch - 36 [28 homegrown; 8 shipped]
Hatching % - 78% [82% homegrown; 67% shipped]

Out of 14 in Lockdown we have 12 Healthy, Happy Little Fuzzy Butts. Very Excited as these are new breeds to add to our flock. Black Copper Marans, Blue Copper Marans and Lavender Orpingtons
