I candled my cream legbar and sulmtaler eggs again tonight. No movement, no peeping, so i did eggtopsy on the ones that were suppose to hatch on the 28th. They were all dead. This is the bunch that my one and only chick hatched out of and she hatched early and still had the yolk sac. The other bunch that was suppose to hatch today seems like it will be all dead also, no movement, no nothing. I had to go buy a chick today to put with Earleen Henny (cream legbar). I got a polish from a neighbor that hatched yesterday. Earleen is sooooo tiny, half the size of this day old polish, and she is now 4 days old. I'm sure the tornado and loosing power for so long wasn't helpful. The eggs got down to 72F degrees before we got electricity back on.
I set 34, one hatched. 1 out of 34.

Earleen Henny on the left, bought this Polish on the right. Toys and a mirror just weren't enough.

Am I still the only one with nothing? Busy day, so I came in earlier and got through almost 100 posts, but really mainly skimmed them. Got back from dropping on eof my grand daughters off and I think I'm just starting over from here. I have a brooder inside, so when I've thought I heard a peep, I didn't from any of the bators. There's one in my bedroom, but I don't trust that I heard something a few minutes ago. If they hatch, they hatch, if they don't, I have plenety more to hatch from the same birds. So glad I didn't order eggs like I started to. Then again, They been a day or 2 late off and on lately, so if I wake up monday to bators with chicks, I'll be happy. I'm lying! I want chicks now! WT heck is going on in there???
I don't have anything yet either except a few faint cheep cheep sounds once or twice.

Well, this is what is going in tomorrow morning, 8 eggs! I looked around and found the best shaped eggs and of different colors and all were already fat end up, so they are going to rest over night and go in, in the morning. Even though I'm still feeling a little iffy on my last hatch I really can't let an opportunity that landed in my lap go, maybe it was meant and will be fun seeing what I get. My son has really had a wonderful time through this whole process, he will be ecstatic to see another set of eggs in the bator :)

OK, Back to topic...lol.. So excited to see all the chick pics, pips and stories and sorry for those with losses or having trouble with their babies. I will go back through tomorrow when I have a moment and reply, now it is time for bed! All my babies are doing well and the little silkie chick I had to pry from his/her sticky egg is holding it's own in the brooder even though he is certainly the teeniest.

it is 730 or close. I have 50 chicks hatched 40 in brooder 10 hatcher. many more pipping. 1 wheaten marans dead before it could get out. think I can pretty much leave the rest alone until tomorrow. I will watch the humidity it jumped to 76 today back down to 68 the last time I looked set 113 eggs I am sure I will fine quitters and unfertile eggs when hatching stops.

I know, right?? It never occurred to me there would be a massive hike like that...I'm only half tortured with known losses right now...I still have to find out what happened with the other set of 200+in there. Criminy. This machine is solid as a rock, but only as good as its operator, I guess.

I don't have anything yet either except a few faint cheep cheep sounds once or twice.

Been having a day or 2 late hatches. I think somethings really wrong. Usually there's several issues during my hatches. This one was text book. Maybe that's a sign that even when I screw up, I'm good. At least that's what I've always come back with with my one sibling that is my tormentor.

Five barn yard eggs set in the still air LG On Feb. 18, 2013. Placed under a hen named Judy the Broody on March 5.
Five hatched on March 12.

Feb. 23, 2013 set twenty four Catdance Silkie eggs in the Genesis 1588. Between March 16th to 17th, twelve chicks hatched.

On March 6, 2013. Set twenty Ron Fogle heritage RIR eggs in the Genesis 1588. Eleven hatched on March 27, 2013.

A very successful Spring hatch all around. Gorgeous chicks. Time to clean and store the incubators for the season.

Cute chicks. I love silkies for the looks, and those RIR give, give, and give some more! I have two pullets that I am waiting on..just around 5 weeks more until I get some eggs. :)
