I'm sorry and I'm really not sure, I just know throughout my hatch I opened more than I should have and I got really worried over the chicks that were playing soccer with the eggs in the incubator so took them out and believe I am what caused my 5-6 full term chicks in there eggs to become shrink wrapped. Or at least from eggtopsies this is what looked like happened. :( So sad!
I know many on here will open at the end and tap the eggs and try to listen for life a day or two after day 21, but this time I plan to ONLY open for day 7, 14 and 18 to candle and then I am going to set up the bator so the chicks won't play soccer with all the other eggs and just try to practice a hands off policy lol it's so hard though!

Were you able to notice ANY signs of life from them? Did you candle and try to look for an internal pip? If you see this then immediately put them back and wait.

I did candle and tap but there were no internal pips, movement or chirps.

What a great Easter basket, all 12 of my quail eggs hatched !!! 100% !!!
I know 12 is nothing compared to some of the numbers I saw posted.

Sorry to hear of so many eggs that did not hatch. I am curious if they were shipped eggs or not before I start ordering my mail? My eggs were max 3 days old and collected while warm.
It seems like most of the problems were Not fertile eggs, Shipped eggs and then incubator problems.

Shipped eggs hatch, on average at 50%. Local eggs are closer to 80%. Shipping takes a lot of energy out of the eggs.

Good job on the Quail hatch!

Looks like my Brooder lol. Black sexlinks ALL black, Olive Eggers ALL black, Japanese Bantams 2 black 2 yellow. Did your Yellow one come from a Black Sexlink egg?
I think so. The egg source also had red sex links but the color was lighter on those eggs.

Here is a picture of 3 of the Amercaunas that hatched. It looks like there is one blue, one gray and one white. This is my first hatch and I am not very knowledgeable about the American Poultry Standards at all though, so if anyone out there can tell me for sure, I'd love to know! All I know is that they are the cutest fuzziest babies Ever
