I am planning on taking as many out in am as possible. I will have to find a spray bottle or just wipe down sides of incubator...Get a clean spray bottle with hot clean water in it. Open the incubator and mist twice. Take out a basket and put the lid back on. Take the chicks out of the basket, close the basket and put the basket back into the incubator adding two more mist sprays. Band the chicks and put them into the brooder.
Make sure to write the band colors down in your notes!
I will be dong this for this hatch. I have SG Dorkings and New Heritage Delwares in baskets. Lots of fun!
This just happened to me luckily I have a hatcher (Incubator) which I put little baskets in lined with paper towels I put any question marks in one and good eggs in another.. I had super dark Maran eggs 7 and 8's on the shade chart once laid down 2 weeped the one started smelling the other I just tossed..they can explode..I keep my questionables because my incubator is all plastic and can be cleaned easier than styro..before the rotton smell a lot of times it will smell kind of like a boiled eggs does when you peel it strong egg smell.POTENTIAL WEEPING EGG QUESTION? Hi, everyone! Quick question from a virgin incubatress (me!): We are on day 20 in lockdown with everything looking good in terms of temp and humidity in our Brinsea Octagon 20. One Welsummer egg has a tiny amber colored drop on the outside, but no sign of pipping, and by tiny I mean like the size of a pinhead. When we went into lockdown we were having a very hard time seeing through the eggshells, but none of the ones we left in smelled suspicious, so even if the candling was inconclusive, we left the eggs. Our 21st day becomes complete Saturday night around 8PM. So far, no one is pipping. Advice? Thanks in advance and love seeing everyone's pictures in the 5th BHC Hatch-Along!
i tried this but it didnt work. he just lay there and didnt even try to move. he is so small. i dont think he is going to make it. all the others are fine, including the other chick with crooked toes. he gets around just as well as the chicks with good feet. i think he will heal fine, but im worried about the little guy.Use a bandaid to create a hobble. It will keep his legs centered under his body. Be sure he is not on slick surfaces.
No shaking! You don't have to do this after all, the chick does!![]()
So glad you rescued her! They are way to sweet to have to go through that!! They are the best chicken pets ever.Omg my Mille D'uccle loves to be held! I just rescued a porcelain d'uccle from a swap meet.Poor thing was wanting out so bad! The guys stuffed her in a cage with 5 rooster twice her size!!! As I walked around the cage she followed me. I knew I had to do something! Here is here the day we got her, which was 9 days ago!
Ever since the ride home, she hasnt wanted to leave my side. She gets so scared when she sees a rooster! I am working on getting her feathers back and her health seems fine. She is getting so spoiled right now! She gets so jealous when another hen gets on my lap. Its funny. I decided to name her MoonBaby, she seems to respond to her name already.
