I thought the female chicks would hatch with reddish tint down and the males yellowish tint down, I didn't think there was a spot.

That may be true!

It was hard to see the differences in color at hatch with silver though because silver can be funky.

I agree. Some crosses that create sexlinks can very hard to distinguish at hatch.

The Ancona ducks finally hatched on the 27th and 28th.

So my disappointing pre HAL hatch (5/46 shipped) and my terrible HAL hatch (5/92 home eggs) left me thinking the other eggs I had started before it all went bad were cursed. Got a 26/43 hatch out so far with at least a few still just at internal pip stage!

my lone little turkey from the HAL it is a mixed small breed...beltsville/rio the friendliest little thing hope it is a hen then hubby won't want to eat it as much ..only be chicken sized

Here's a pic of my 4 remaining HAL chicks.

The light colored one is supposed to be a aracuna that my local feed store had. She snuck into my truck.

Any ideas on color?
