thanks guys! haha

Sold 3 of my 8 Easter HAL chicks today. Buyer was sure he could sex them, so I told him he wanted to employ his skills and buy only ones he was sure were female (cause he can't have roos) then I'd need to ask a little more than my straight run price. Glad that was okay with him, cause I need to sell some of these. 3 chicks and he gave me $25 :) I hope he's right on his sexing, for his sake (and for mine a bit since he thought all but one were female).

I took photos of them just a day or two ago. Getting so big already - starting to grow feathers on their shoulders already, wings all filled in and tails more than just sprouts. I plan to keep the smallest one who has a gold head and light wings. Don't care what gender, I just like the coloring and we're planning to sell or re-home our current roo since he's already a year old and we plan to keep breeding this variety and want a young virile roo each spring (and the current roo has a bit darker coloring than I want to breed for).

congrats! what is your straight run price? what breed are they? laced brahmas?

Since I'm still working on getting the coloration I would like and just starting to breed these (though their parents are pures), I ask $5 each straight run. I'm in the Twin Cities metro, so I find I can charge a little bit more for the convenience factor and once I get a couple generations under me on these, I will probably ask more (and I plan to try to hatch earlier for 4H sales if I can in the next few springs). They are Mille Fleur Belgian d'Uccles.

Once I got an incubator, every egg I collected became an object of potential hatching. It is way too tempting, so I have put both away for now.
Also, I am trying not to attend any poultry shows. Those people know an addict when they see one, and everything is for sale.

Oh no! Thats happening to me and my mom! We keep adding to the incubator....
