I have a broody? But I don't want to open the bator!

Better to than not..to put some hot water bottles in there. Make sure they are able to be closed..like pop bottle tops..water tops. Make the tap water as hot as you can, put them in. Put warm water in to keep the humidity up, remember, no condensation on the windows. Can happen with warm water, just make it a little warm into the tunnels for water.

Chicks under a blanket with you is fine..don't..wrap your bators if they are in lock down in blankets! It will be ok to fill some bottles, closed..that are full of hot water. Will help keep the temp ok for them until you get the power back on. Those eggs need oxygen right now .. especially if they are in lock down! They could be pipped internally, they need oxygen. Can't say it enough!

oh i didnt catch that they were in lock down. Yeah ignore my blanket comment and go with the hot water bottles

on another note. Thanks to everyones help especially you and Sally. My second hatch is going a WHOLE lot smoother than the HAL. I started with 60 this time. Only lost 4 before lockdown. So 56 made it to lockdown tonight. All are moving, air cells are great and 3 look like they are close to internal pip at lockdown candling.

I had another good hatch with some silkies. :) It's nice to have a couple of good silkie hatches in a row. I had 10 go into lock down, 8 made it!

Oh okay. Lol! Nice I am hatching another round here too, and building a home-made incubator so I can make the hatches more exciting. hehe

Oh okay, good luck on your projects! :)

I do a lot of split hatches. I have in bator now are f1 olive eggers and f2, along with some Rhodebar project eggs.
Good luck on your hatches also and your project incubator!
