A lot of sellers don't put fragile stickers on anymore because of how many people have reported that more boxes are damaged when labeled fragile as opposed to not being labeled. All it takes apparently is one postal worker in a tiffy mood... I still label my egg boxes because it's what buyers expect, but they sometimes request that I not label, due to their own experiences.
I would hope that purposefully damaging a box because it has a fragile sticker is really not common, but you're right, I have heard others say that before. I would think neglect is more often the culprit, but how sad if there are really people out there who would do that! Still, I would think that if you were trying to make a claim, having a dented and smashed box with a sticker would be a stronger case than if there wasn't a sticker. I mean, if the original shipper took that precaution I imagine that it could be agreed unacceptable for a box to be delivered looking like it was drop kicked! I don't know, maybe I'm just naive. I have never purchased or shipped eggs before so I don't have any experience in the shipping process, but my uncle worked for the post office for years and years before he retired and he always told us to put a handle with care or fragile sticker on because that gives you more of a leg to stand on if something does happen. Lets hope these eggs come out just fine!

Hubby put the doors on the new pens today. We just need a bit more predator protection, dividing walls, and bedding! :woot

I see them for sale on craigslist every now and then, but they always look is really rough shape like someone found it while going through a garage where it had been sitting for years.

We have kept this in our garage in the rafters for Years. It had sticker/plaque on it stating the name of the company (couldnt make it out) and on the sticker it said 195_ haha... my dad was born in 54 (shhh don't tell him i put that on here) but he remembers her getting it so it had to be mid-late 50s. She used it up until the late 80s and my dad used it till around 94... then it went into the rafters to sit. I pulled it down and figured I should give it a whirl instead if buying a new one. I hope I can one day pass it on to my boys!!! :)

Is there a hashtag for this hatch-along for twitter/instagram? I would love to keep up with others that way too!

Those are lovely! I want something like that for my breeder pens instead of the short ones my husband made that require me to bend myself in the shape of a pretzel when I need to get into them. My husband does not understand the term "accessible".

I have a question about the count...
I already know of at least one duck egg that is clear that I had set in time for the HAL. Do I count it? Or act like it never happened?
I will give my number a little later today. It's not turning out to be very many since most of my eggs had to go in too early or too late to be counted.....

Exactly!

Although, I MAY give some grow-out chicks past the brooder stage to someone who wants to start a flock. If they want to pay me, I wouldn't refuse it, but spreading the addiction is payment enough.

We do have people wanting to purchase chick from us but we only have about 40 grown birds (roos/hens) and around 20 chicks right now and hopefully more in three weeks.

I hope it works out great, and you are able to pass it on to your boys!
