Foo. I forgot to post how many I set.
Didn't have enough spare change lying around this time to buy eggs, so I set some of my own home-grown cackleberries, only recently confirmed fertile! Here's hoping they make it in my crappy bators (homemade styro and Brinsea mini eco), since my broodies decided to UNbroody (and give up on their poor eggs, some of which were almost fully developed) the 28th..
Anyways, I now have 6 "barnyard mix" chicken (wrote 4 here originally, but I forgot about 2 of them), 2 mixed duck, and 10 coturnix quail cookin' for Easter! I'll get a pic in the morning and edit this post to include it.

Edit - Pics!

And quail, in homemade styrobator. Ignore the other eggs. They're just there to help regulate temp/humidity.

Getting this done before I get sidetracked - here's the 67 timed for the HAL; they'll move to the wine cooler at candling on Sunday: ...and the turkey eggs, which I can't take an open 'bator shot of because, as you can see the previous residents are in the process of packing up: That would be tonight's BO chick, discovering just how big the outside world really is... And just because I can & the concept of having so many in incubators at once still boggles me - the warm-up going in tomorrow, with which I jump the gun slightly on 21 day pre-run of wine cooler - but they need to be set or given up on:
I actually don't own an incubator yet. I borrowed one from a friend who's dad used to breed them.

So dear CayuseRanch said to SET ALL THE EGGS!

So I stuck as many into this little contraption as possible and then snapped a photo. (Thus the temp is down)

What do you think the chances are that any of them will actually hatch? I have to say, turning them is fun.... like juggling eggs actually! LOL

I put my order in for some snowflake quail hatching eggs from Gunrunner! Yes ! I will be getting eggs in the next couple of months from them. :)

Candled last night - day 5 for me. Only saw veining in 11 out of 30. A few that I'm pretty sure are clears, and many probably clear but not sure. This depresses me. :(

WHAT do I use to weather seal the chicken coop that is SAFE for the chickens? Trying to go organic isn't helpful I am thinking if I paint their coop with toxins right? I am so confused....
