Yeah, My polish is a good "flock master" and nice to the ladies, but he does, run up my legs with his super sharp spurs and and it draws blood, which is not fun lol. But he is getting better.
luckily mine doesn't have super sharp ones yet. He's not yet a year old and they are still rounded a lot. This is my first too so not really sure when they start getting sharp but he can still draw a bit of blood.

I had one try to peck me when feeding him. He was in a wire cage. I came home that night, put the big canning pot on the stove and started the processing. My 14 year old DD came in and kind of stared. I looked up, feathers in my hand and said "Oh Hi! I am a bit behind on getting dinner ready tonight." She turned and quickly went up stairs. I did tell her that I was kidding-he needed to rest a couple of days first.

He was very tasty!

Ron was yours a Polish too? I just sold my tom with a bad attitude and a Sultan roo who didn't like my boots. I'm not spending all summer watching out for psycho roo. Although he behaves in a cage. Its while free ranging I get flogged. Specifically when I forget to watch him and walk in the middle of the flock.

Too darn cute! He looks like he's smiling! And, he looks like he has a mohawk!

I am lost. We had to go to TSC tonight to get feed for the meaties. They had a tub of bantam chicks. Some Splash Cochins. One white Japanese. One white Silky. Some Blue Cochins. Some that appear to be Blue d'uccles. One I couldn't identify. I rationalized that I had one empty brooder and isolation is only two weeks long....... It's all over now, isn't it?

Uh, yup.

I am more-further-lost than are you, GOT. Just a few weeks ago, without ANY regard for the upcoming Easter HAL, I picked up chicks from two different feed stores. Just 7 from one and 3 from the other.... Wouldn'ta hadda buy the last 3 if the first place hadn't run out of BR pullets before I got there so I had to pick "next best" and "next to next best" breeds, still wanting some BRs. Wouldn't have bought the first 7 if I wasn't feeling sorry for myself after a dental appointment....

The only things cheerier-uppery than chicks are ducklings. I'd have come home with some of THOSE if there had been any offered for sale, despite the proven fertility of my Cayuga flock.

I have six hatches in grow-up pens. I have three batches of eggs in incubators. (fortunately, most of them are already sold). Plus turkeys. I was saving the space for Silver Dorkings. I really want Silver Dorkings.... But, the power is flashing and it just seems logical to raise something that like to be a broody before I pay $7 apiece for those eggs, doesn't it?
