Man, I'm getting so impatient. I've got 12 of my original 40 d'Uccles in lockdown. Had 4 more early quitters. They all looked pretty good at candle right before lockdown. Waiting waiting waiting

If you want, you can pull them out of the bator and let them be in a cup too. Hey, is that silkie a pure? Wait, is it a silkie..can't see the feet..maybe a polish, cute what ever it is...the 4th photo..love the first one too.
I tried putting both of them in a cup. They flip on their backs in there, too.

If you are talking about the black one, the pic right before the last pic, then yes, it's a silkie...BUT...it could also be silkie/polish cross. The woman I got the eggs from had polish and silkies in the same pen, so she couldn't tell me. It is smaller than the other silkies/silkie crosses that were born. I haven't got pics of all of them yet, was too busy watching eggs hatch

She will love you forever! She followed you while in the cage, now you will always have to watch where you walk. :)
She is like a cat, will walk in between ur feet or will walk in front of you and turn torwars you to stop you. Looks up and lifts one foot... She wants up, she means it. xD Love my moonbaby

My hatch is done, I think.  I do have 1 more egg that is still alive, but it hasn't pipped.

I hatched all 17 barnevelders, including one wrong way pipper.  5 welsummers, an olive egger, a cream legbar (cockerel, figures) and 2 BCM's.  26 total.
I feel your pain. I had 1 Legbar hatch too and mine is a boy too. Ill leave the other 4 a couple more days though.

Shelby, that is just too cute. You will have to get a photo of her in a few days here. Bet she looks better just in a few. She is one lucky girl.

When I am wanting chicks to sit upright, I put a paper towel in a low glass that isn't too wide. I make it a tight fit with the paper towel, and, make a rest spot for the head. Make sense?

No progress on the pips. I am sitting on my hands trying not to mess with it. For distraction, I made a dog collar out of parachute cord but I am going nuts, here. Come on, chickies!

I am afraid to jinx it by turning on the brooder heater.

Congratulations on all the successful hatches so far! I love seeing all the pictures of chicks. You all have some gorgeous babies.

So how long does it normally take them to fluff up? My first one out still isn't 100% dry. And it hatched 5hrs ago.
