No pips or anything.... they were wiggling a lot inside on lock down but still nothing so far... on day 10 we had a power failure, not sure how long it lasted but the eggs were down to 66 degrees F when we got home. I candled them and prayed. On lock down we had 11 good looking ones and 5 questionable ones... keeping my fingers and toes crossed!
I'm rt there with ya had the very same problem

So how long does it normally take them to fluff up? My first one out still isn't 100% dry. And it hatched 5hrs ago.

Yeah I inevitably pull the chicks out and put mine in a brooder so they dry. I find my hatcher humidity rebounds super fast. I try not to open it more than once per day to get chicks out. Some people say don't do it! But it works out for me.

DH locked down last night because he had put more eggs in the incubator on the 30 along with the ones set on the 29. He was hearing chirps when locking them down. Came into work to find one Marraduna Basque hatched overnight. He is still hearing chirps when he left this evening so hopefully more will pop overnight. Those that are afraid their hatch is unsuccessful, don't give up. It sometimes can take up to 25 days. Our first hatch ever, took up to 24 days and they all hatched pretty much at once. 21 days is just the average, it is not an absolute.

I think my sick chick has sour crop. Her crop is huge and squishy. But no smelly face or tenderness. Would it be Sour crop or could it just be a side effect of being without food and water?
She is acting back to normal running around, eating and drinking and pooping normally. Except for that crop

Well, my second chick hatched - with assistance. It is obvious now why it couldn't do it on its own. It has a severe cross beak, and was badly positioned. I'm surprised it managed to pip into the air sac. It also only has one eye- the head is greatly misshapen. If it didn't have the cross beak, I would see how it managed. But it won't be able to eat, so I'll have my husband euthanize it when he gets home tomorrow.

I'm really sad - about this chick, and because I only have 1 healthy chick out of 30 eggs.

So my hatch came down to this:
30 eggs set with terrible air cells. Most did not develop. Nine had some development, but quit before day 10. Two went to lock down under a broody.

1 healthy chick.

I never want to hatch shipped eggs again.
:hit

my hatch is going 9 or more EEs have hatched in the dickie bator. thw whea ten marans have n't pip yet. in brinsea the eggs are pipped white marans . hope they hatch. everyone is having fun me too.

Very carefully put the chick into a tea cup--one that is big enough to keep it in without jumping out. Keep it in the incubator. The yolk is not absorbed. Hopefully it is not infected.

The chick needs to stay in the cup sitting up. It would be a good idea to give it some baby drop vitamins without iron. A drop twice a day.

The yolk should absorb by tomorrow. If it ruptures the chick usually bleeds out.

Keep it as comfortable as possible but you might have to cull if it seems to be in pain.

did the chick hatch by itself?
