[/IMG]first two guineas that hatched became mom for quail! Others are mean to Quail. Still have Quails hatching.

My HAL hatch results are 11 BR chicks & 2 poults = 13 total.

Lots more hatching coming up! I have 11 eggs under a broody hen due next week, and 6 turkey eggs set for the Cinco de Mayo hatch, oh, and the eggs I won in the fun night contest will be set to hatch mid-May. And maybe a trade or two after that... Then I'll stop

Happy Easter!

So far I have 14/24 hatched, with 6 more pipped. Yay!!!

This little guy is worrying me, though.

The air cell is saddled, and it's pipped right in the middle of the saddle. Its beak is sticking out a little, but it has been this way for awhile....I came home from being out of town so I didn't see when it pipped. Its breathing, but I'm really worried it can't turn to zip.

What do you think?

Will someone please shed some light on what is wrong with this newborn? It's a Lav Orpington/GL Cochin cross. Born this afternoon, it's the one I had tucked between my boobs because of the blood loss when she popped out of the shell (the blood loss was from her navel) and she became lethargic and cold. She won't stand on her own, just lays on her belly, and when bothered she kicks her legs up and towards her back.

Had a busy day yesterday and was pretty tired after staying up with the chicks hatching. Love all the pics and CONGRATS to everyone who got chicks from this hatch!

My hatch is now complete! Final results are 31 Chicks out of 49 eggs set (39 went to lockdown)

Breakdown -

11 of 13 Buff Orpingtons
4 of 8 BBS Copper Marans
3 of 9 Blue Barred Rocks (lot of clears in these, they were young)
5 of 6 Olive Eggers
3 of 6 BO x EE
3 of 4 BO x BA
1 of 1 BO x SLW
1 of 1 BO x DEL/BO

I culled 1 BO/BA that had pipped with a severe crossbeak, and I am kicking myself for not pipping an air hole in a OE that had internally pipped and was peeping, but did not externally pip. I waited too long and when I opened it this morning, it was dead. Looked like a slight malposition as the head was not under its wing, but other wise a fully formed, beautiful BLUE OE chick!

But overall I am THRILLED with the results of this hatch!!!

THIRTY-ONE beautiful healthy chicks who all pipped the right end and hatched on their own!!!

Here are a few pictures of the little peepers to prove it happened...

The little BO x SLW - check out that eyeliner! Can't wait to see what she looks like when she grows up!

A nice sampling of the colors from this hatch - Blue Rocks & Marans & OE, Black Marans & OE, Golden Buffs, and striped little EE's...

Look at all the chickies!!

Quote: Maybe what I'm going to call atypical wry neck, usually wry neck you think of the head going up and backwards, thus stargazing. This seems to be down, into it's chest. I did an image search on chicks with wry neck and a few were going down like yours. You don't happen to have any liquid infant vitamins without iron about do you?
