Yay I just ordered my incubator now I just need bantam eggs preferably Cochin Bantams:)

Are Cochin Bantams yellow with a little brown? and of course the furry feet? I bought some mixed bantams at the tractor supply today and in my mix that was put into the box was 2 yellow and then 1 brownish colored with furry feet and the rest was regular yellow chick, interested to see what they grow up to be.

UPDATE After last nights incubator troubles and my eggs hitting 106 degrees, I have been quite worried about them since they are on day 15 now. I just candled and it looks like I only lost 3 and had 4 blanks out of 28.

I finally decided to move my broody and her golfballs to the new in coop brooder. Made the move at noon. Figured was as good a time as any. I just picked up her nest, with her in it and moved it. She never made a peep. Feeling good I waited an hour, then went ahead and took her golfballs from her which really made her mad. So I gave her some real eggs 1 at a time and she was like a backhoe pulling them under her. She took 12 and absolutely refused any more. I guess she knows her limit lol. So now we wait fri-sat. Should be the day they hatch. Fingers crossed.

What a good little broody!

They might be partridge Cochins or lemon buff but that's just my guess:)

I started collecting eggs today and they are sitting on my kitchen counter but I worry that they may get too warm while we are using the kitchen. Opinions?
Currently cooking and thermometer reads 65 F.

I will be your keeper if you will be mine.

I think you may have the harder job though. I'm glad your chickie is ok.

Vitamins do wonders!
Just let my husband in on 1/10th of the plans I have. He got a pained look on his face and went to Lowes. I know the lecture is coming.

If he knew all of it I think he would go to bed and pull the covers over his head. He tells me not to tell him because he gets overwhelmed, so I comply (or do I mean buy).

I mean.....he told me not to tell him....

My sanity is gone. I no longer have to worry about it.

I'll be your keeper for sure. It may be easier than you think because i forget things all the time so if you get caught up in chicken math I may be able to convince you it didn't really happen.

Put them in a closet or room that has a closing door. If you have a cooler put them in an egg carton, take a paper towel roll and put them both in it. Set the eggs small side down, pencil the collect date on the top and set the carton with eggs with the roll under 1 side elevating a side. Move the roll 3-4 times a day back and forth to keep the eggs turned and the yoke from sticking. Good luck.
