The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

I'm also very sorry for your loss. Neighbors that don't contain there animals are a real pain. My neighbor hat a huge pit bull and doberman pinscher. And they break lose all the time. I'm always telling my girlfriend get my shotgun. Iv always had success with just shooting it in the ground. But I don't trust that one day they will go after my free Rangers. I now have a 4 month old German Shepard already 48 pounds. That patrols the yard and is very protective of her chicken buddy's. They leave there dogs chained up all day and night. And I just think when they get loose there looking for trouble to get into. So I prey I don't have problems with them one day. The sad part is I live on 8 acres and they still get in my yard from time to time.

Get a paintball gun and freeze the balls. Some will rupture but some will not and fire a mix of frozen and non frozen ammo at them. the frozen ones hit hard and the non-frozen ones splat and scare the dog because he thinks he has been injured. I don't know if it scare the bejesus out of the dog or the owner but every dog I have shot with one has not returned.

Alright sorry u can't join I feel bad

I just fear trying to ship them with only a day before set. I'll watch and use this time to get the baby coop for my 16 2 week olds ready. That way when I get more eggs I can set and the babies will be bigger and I'll have room for the next batch

Ok so I did set the 12 flea market Cayuga duck eggs last week when I got them so they won't be part of the HAL but 6 eggs are showing veins!

Our chicken minimum is 6 and the duckling is 2, but they let me get 2 or 3 chicken and 1 duckling from time to time since I end up getting the 6 in a few weeks time.. I can't control myself...

Actually now that I looked it up in NH the duckling minimum is also 2. Not sure why I was thinking 3 lol.

OMG I just had a startling math realization!

As I was cleaning incubators...

24 X 3 = 72 (3 incubators that hold 24 eggs each)

That's more than 5 dozen. No wonder I am over run with chicks. I don't have a cabinet, so it doesn't look like as much spreading it out.

You mean to say you only put 24 eggs in each of your Octo 20's?

Am I the only one who plays the Egg Jigsaw Puzzle Game to see if I can fit just one more egg into the basket???

I have to hand turn the incubators because they are too heavy for the auto-turners and it may break the motor arm (been there, done that, more times than I care to admit!

). This is just one of my Brinseas currently - except for a little variation in the colors, they both look the same

Hey guys...

To those of you that don't think you will be able to participate, but want to...

I have 8 eggs I can send. They are eggs from my ameraucanas that are in with my welsummers. The eggs I have are blue, The resulting chicks would be Olive egger mutts. I would say shipping on them would be $8 to $10 if you are interested, that is all I would ask for- to cover shipping.
