The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

I was given a Lavender English Orpington roo, hatched from a papabrooder egg, by a wonderful lady that i met here on BYC. @cree57i . I went last week and picked up 5 LO chicks hoping to get him a girlfriend. lol. Also i have 18 BBS in the incubator AND 12+ Black, BBS, and BBS frizzle coming from Hog Creek Ranch. I am patiently waiting to get a Silver Laced Orp, my dream chicken.

I met the Hog Creek guy and his wife. They were really nice. They now have some of my isabelle leghorn chicks!

Hoping your hatches are beyond wonderful!

@HappyChooks
don't know what thread she's playing on right now but hope she sees this.  I think she's the one that can't keep roos, right ???    a baby sock with the toe cut off works too. And since it is stretchy it doesn't have to be adjusted. My big boy has worn one for about 5 months. Cut the toe off, and roll it into a donut. Slip over his head and under hackle feathers.     (They were talking about a crow collar and this person suggested this)
I will have to try that in a few months

I just did final candle on a dozen going into lockdown. This is my first incubation so Im wondering, I see on a couple that I could still barely see some veins and on others it just looked all black other than the air cells. Is this ok? Good or bad?

It is more good than bad to see the darkness in the egg. The chick gets too big to see the veins easily at lockdown. The best thing is to see them moving.

I hope you have a great hatch!

Just got my lavender ameraucana eggs today to add to the incubator! I expected 12 but the seller gave me 18! Super excited to hatch these out.

I've had a few eggs in my incubator for about 4/5 days, adding the extra eggs I know I'll have to adjust Temps a bit here n there but overall having different hatch dates shouldn't effect anything right?

Stupid phone had a spazz attack and lost all my quotes so if I'm forgetting anything feel free to remind me. @ Gitabooks so sorry for your loss sending hugs and prayers your way Secondly is everyone else collecting and counting down? I'm so excited I really really hope our MPC hatching eggs for education arrive tomorrow so that I can set on the third like I planned. :) 9 of our chicks, God willing we get a good hatch and have the pullets they want, already have a home and a very excited Mamma to be. @Daethen Most if not all the cockerals will be ending up in the freezer depending on their temperaments the pullets will all be looking for homes(at least the ones from our eggs will be) We will be hatching slw, slw/ee, slw/buff orp, and silkies for sure

Ahh I really want some different variety Orpingtons!! May have to eventually get some from cree or this hog creek place i keep hearing of.

Count me in! I didn't think I could join this hatch but things fell into place, I found the eggs I wanted locally, and I'm picking them up on Friday! This will be my first time incubating, and I couldn't be more eggcited!
