Candled my remaining 3 eggs before lockdown and they were all dead. They all die like clockwork on Day 24. I think there's a nutrient issue...

Is this a pip in my blue ee egg? Today is day 20.

I'd say no. If it is, it's totally on the wrong part of the egg. My understanding is that they pip internally into the air cell, then externally in that circled area you have where the air cell is. If I'm even looking at the right thing, it may even look like a tiny nick in the egg from the outside.

I've had chicks pip in that area hatch fine. I might just be wishful.

Shoot I just made some chocolate covered strawberries to distract me from looking.

So, candling at lockdown... I threw out another 6 quitters, but I only have 4 that I am pretty sure are alive.

That's a whole bunch that I consider "dubious", and I'm afraid are dead, or ... well, never were - but they are all dark.

What could I be doing THAT wrong?? I feel awful...

It's not you. It might be young birds or to many hens for the roosters to cover them all. That happened with my last hatch. I set 30 and only 12 hatched because I had to few roosters to cover everyone.

Well.....first hatch not going well. I put 5 into lockdown. 3 are viable, 2 are questionable.

Lots of blood rings and deaths around the 10 day mark.

I am really sad! Almost makes me not want to incubate again

There were a few clears we through out on the first candle, but the rest of these showed some development, or at least the semblance of it (in darker eggs).... So fertility wouldn't seem to be the issue.
