Very interesting! I've read up on here about the turning of eggs...and I was trying to go for 5 times a day. I was just away too much the last hatch to accomplish 5 times so the eggs got turned 3 times during the day (and a couple of days not even that) and my hatch turned out well. So I'm just doing a trial for "myself" with the eggs I've set just to see how it goes for me this time with older eggs (again) and less turning.

*Please note: I don't recommend anyone follow this at all. I'm just commenting for discussionary purposes.

Cynthia, it's interesting how you turn your eggs differently than I do. I mark my eggs the same, yet each time I turn only 1/4 of a turn. Neat! I just never thought of turning them halfway...lol.

And I'm VERY happy to hear your girl is doing well.

CRAP! I forgot to mention I use new gloves to turn my eggs. (Usually vinyl) Then I continue chores from chicks youngest to oldest and then the adults in the coop.

My hatch is officially over. All 17 eggs hatched and now I have 17 beautiful, new BCM babies!

one of these does not belong. One of the poults dove right in and got comfy as I was putting them back in the brooder lol

Hi just thought i would post a couple photos of our newest paddocks almost done. All the walls open on all sides for air flow during the day with open runs

WOW! That looks huge. I really like the runs. How do you do your watering system in the desert? That's too many pens to haul water 1 gallon at a time!

So how is everyone's day going?

Good Nate! Better than yesterday. I'm so sorry to hear about your chickie.

I had to put down one of my sweet old ewes yesterday. Losing a pet/livestock sucks. In your case it didn't have to be so...and that's much worse.
I grew up with pigs, I had pigs (people still think I have pigs now and that was years ago...hilarious!!

), my uncle still has pigs and I worked in a pig barn for many years. I TOTALLY get the fence thing. I get my bagged straw (allergies...yes it's funny) from people who have pigs. First time there, I saw a HUGE boar in a one strand electric fence. Couldn't believe it! They train their pigs for the electric fence in an area that has a metal sheeting just beyond the electric wire. They touch the electric wire, try to go through the electric wire and touch the electric sheeting. Pigs never try the electric fence again. Pretty genius I thought, but the pig thing...that ship has sailed for me.
But for you, food for thought...if it saves your chickies.
