Good luck. Just make sure you COLLECT THEM ALL!!!

Count me in!!!!

Welcome! So glad you could join!

Gita brooks, that 2nd to last picture, that chick is glued in the shell. It will not be able to get out on its own. When the membrane turns brown, they are stuck.
I did end up helping one chick slightly (the one in the egg the hen accidentally pecked), but the others hatched well without a problem. I'm not sure if it was that chick or not, but it might have had trouble hatching just because there was only membrane and no shell to try to break through, and membrane isn't as brittle and easy to break.

Ok I'm in I never did a hatch along is there a minimum of eggs I need so far I found a half dozen easter Eggers and a half dozen rir

There is no minimum (or maximum

Well I've gone and did it. I passed on the chicken bug. One of my husbands customers found out about my roosters and asked for some. 2 birds went to a new home with 30 beautiful ladies waiting for them. The guys wife has offered me first picks out of the eggs after fertile ones start coming to hatch and my husband just smiled and said ok. As long as I have at least 30-40 hens in the end I'm ok. Next he asked me what kinds of chicks the local feed store had in stock and told me to go look Monday morning

Too bad her eggs are too little to set yet lol

Congrats!

Seems I wont be setting goose eggs only chicken eggs. Im done trying to hatch geese eggs its wasting my time every year.

That's a good choice. If it just stresses you, then don't do it. You can have a bunch of awesome chickens instead.

Well haven't had any eggs in almost a week. Yesterday that dog killed 4... Today I find 11!!!! I think maybe I need to let a dog near, not kill, them more often

I'm sorry about the hens you lost, but its awesome you got some eggs. Maybe I need to scare my hens into laying too.

UPDATE After last nights incubator troubles and my eggs hitting 106 degrees, I have been quite worried about them since they are on day 15 now. I just candled and it looks like I only lost 3 and had 4 blanks out of 28.

I finally decided to move my broody and her golfballs to the new in coop brooder. Made the move at noon. Figured was as good a time as any. I just picked up her nest, with her in it and moved it. She never made a peep. Feeling good I waited an hour, then went ahead and took her golfballs from her which really made her mad. So I gave her some real eggs 1 at a time and she was like a backhoe pulling them under her. She took 12 and absolutely refused any more. I guess she knows her limit lol. So now we wait fri-sat. Should be the day they hatch. Fingers crossed.

Awesome! Best of luck!

Count me in for my first ever hatch-a-long and first ever hatch! I'll be hatching some of my Cream Legbars. Can't wait!!

Cream legbars are so cool.

Frustrating for sure!!

But I think that's just wild your feed stores get chicks in just have chicks there. Loose. Waiting for people to buy them. I've never seen anything like that here. At all. Closest thing to that was when our local co-op used to get a group of chicks in for their big specials week in March. But you couldn't buy them...it was a raffle. Yep...no chicks here at all.

Ya every review I read was 5 star. And everyone talked excellent about it holding temps and humidity. So I pulled the trigger and went with it. I wanted to build one out of an old fridge. But I been working so much and just built the brooder. That frankly I just don't feel like building anything right now lol.

Hahah that's understandable!!!! I wouldn't either lol but yeah, its a great bator! And much more reasonable than the other tiny little incubators
