Sick kids are so sad. I have 2.... And when they are sick nobody gets rest. My son has chronic ear infections but they haven't put tubes in yet. YET being the key word. But he had one 2 weeks ago and every morning he would have a potty accident in bed and wake up crying. He would hold his ear and scream. All I could do was hold him and tell him it would get better. He's been so sick he can hold the medicine cut and give himself his meds at only age 5... Poor baby. Hope yours get better soon.

I am so sorry to hear that. We haven't dealt with ear infections, so we are lucky... but both my kids get croup every winter. It never is dangerous for us but it sure is scary as heck.

Good morning guys. About to set some eggs. Tried to attach a picture but it just isn't working. I got 2 hours of sleep last night. Not much is working for me right now haha. If you were to know me, you would know nothing turns me into a nervous, anxious mess like sick kids... and my 4 year old has croup. Siiiiggghhhh. T MINUS 1 HOUR 27 MINUTES until the doctors open.

Today I also lock down 10 faverolles eggs from S. Provost, which I am terribly excited about!

Sounds like what 3 of us here have including me. Got some major relief through some echanacia tea last night. Also found that clutching my heating pad to my chest while I slept greatly improved my breathing. I usually use it for my back spasms.

GUYS HELP!!!! My husband went to get my a bale of hay for the best boxes and the kids breakfast.... I was waiting for food!!! He brought back chicken nuggets.... And wings and feet and heads.... Mr. I don't want any more chickens saw 3 Dominique chicks and figured they would make a nice addition. Then as he was leaving a lady left a cheeping package on the counter saying the chicks weren't worth it. He peeked in and saw 3 tiny bantams. My daughter and son started crying saying they were all alone. Those were the last 3 so... Now I've got 6 day old chicks. 16 1-2 week olds and 23 adult birds. It was a mad scramble to find a box, spare heat lamp and the spare feed and water trays.

I mean... who could resist setting an egg from this beauty... she just started laying but egg was a substantial size.

I feel bad because 2 days ago I let them out in the yard for a bit and a hawk decided to go for it. Took out a bunch of her pretty feathers. This is an after photo, she was a lot fuller. Luckily she has no skin abrasions or tears. We took care of the hawk situation, but I didn't expect her to lay for awhile. She surprised me today though. She's prob the sweetest hen in my flock, so thankful that she's ok.

Awwww poor girl.

I am waiting to see what my girls give me today to add to the 54 backyard mixes they already have. I am also waiting for some hand delivered Barnvelder and Wheaton Ameracuana eggs that a friend picked up when she went to the next state to get a rooster. I am also scanning craigslist to try to score some more local eggs. Might try to find quail eggs, one of my DD's who is a chef has been wanting me to raise those too for both eggs and meat.

My enabler DH is egging me on (pun intended), to see how many I can set. I reminded him that he will be the one to build a brooder box big enough to fit all these chicks and the garage will be the temporary home until the mixes are sold.

Aaaannnnnd I have 4 hatched and at least 3 pips that I can see so far on a dz Blue Laced Red Wyandottes in the hatching tray right now.

There are another 32 due next week that are an assortment of shipped rare eggs and special gray eggs from @gimmie birdies

To say the least I have become quite obsessed with hatching and raising these wonderful birds! I do plan on selling many of the chicks and will have quite the assortment of eggs to sell for eating. My feed is nonGMO and organic but I cannot claim to be ORGANIC without certification so I will not be able to get the really big bucks, but enough to pay for feed and my breeding program birds..
