My african finally laid an egg today! first one of the year! been waiting a while

Thank you. I thought it might be, but was told it was a goose. It doesn't matter either way as I only have the one at the present time. Now to find him a girl. Does it need to be the sane breed or just a goose. I don't plan on breeding them as some of the info I read said angel wing could be genetic. Although I was told this was done intentionally to this poor bird. Does it need any special care?

You can get any breed of goose for him but ignore getting him a wild goose!

I will research it more. I read on it some to make sure I didn't need to be treating him for it. Any knowledge y'all can share with me would be great. This was a spur of the moment thing.

This picture is one of my favorites for comparison purposes. Both are ganders hatched on same day and they are six months old in this pic. One came from metzer stock. The other came from Holderread stock. As you can see, my Holderread African has a well defined dewlap, not too large bump, thicker neck, and bigger body.

One of my african ganders looks like your gander on the right like i said before. Here he is ....
