The African and Chinese goose thread!!

I'm getting geese but still undecided on the breed.
I'm getting geese to protect my ducks from hawks , but I don't want too much noise because we have neighbors fairly close.
I'm wondering if the Chinese geese are louder than the Africans or if they are the same.
I was looking into Toulouse geese but the females are too shy for what I need them for.

Please do not be offended but exactly how do you think a goose is going to protect your ducks from hawks? Short of sounding an alarm to alert you that there is something (a hawk?) in the vicinity and possibly ending up seriously injured by the hawk there is little a goose/gander can do to protect. In addition there is the possibility that the goose will take a disliking to the ducks themself and do harm to your ducks instead of protecting them.

My solution to your dilemma has been a Boxer-Bull mix that chases anything that flys. She even runs around the yard barking and chasing jet plane contrails that are 30 thousand feed above her.

I have a Chinese gander and an African female. They are very good guards for my chickens. A hawk tried getting a chicken and the gander did some impressive damage to the hawk. None have come back since. Both geese watch the sky and honk if they see something they don't like. The gander is louder,if that helps.

I have 2 ganders when my roo sounds the alarm they start running down to the house along with everyone else.

I'm not offended.I thought maybe the geese would flap their wings and honk at them , maybe scare them away.
I would be getting two female geese , so aggressive ganders are out of the question.
The goslings and ducklings would grow up together from day-olds , do I doubt the geese would hurt the ducks. They would only be let out in the yard when someone is home , so even sounding the alarm is good.

Since I have had turkey, geese, and guinea we don't have issues with birds of prey. Our largest is the red tails, and there are a few bald eagles in the state but not my area. Geese will go after them, as will the guinea and turkey. None of these birds are a match for a stray dog or coyote, period. This only applied to adults also, not goslings, keets or poults. We have 5 acres and all my birds freely range the property. I keep flocks of each, 14 geese, around 25 guinea and 10 or so turkeys. I only confine my birds during breeding season so my breeds stay pure.

Can anyone help me out here please?Recently got a pair of Chine Show Geese last eek Gretel laid one egg had nothing to with it we left it all now yesterday she lade 3 in a make shift nest laid on the half the day and today she turned them but no sitting on them and Hamel gets aggressive towards only men that go near them and he has not been this way. Any suggestions on what we should do?

My thought is she is not done laying. When she finishes she should start sitting. I would move the first egg to the nest.

Question for you all.
I have a pair of white Chinese and a trio of sets in one flock and 7 mixed geese in another flock. Somehow the two white Chinese have gotten separated and bonded with different partners.
So how easy will it be to separate the two white Chinese and get them to bond with each other again? I'd like to breed them pure otherwise I wouldn't care.
Thanks
