The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Well what ever they are mix or pure they will be precious. Do you think you'll give them to your females to raise.
hand raising 2 for my daughter, she has a sister goose already from a few months ago, and I have a friend that just messaged, she wants 3! So all are probably spoken for. Since they are going to homes, I will hand raise so they are human imprinted. If they stay, I let a Momma raise so they are integrated with my flock. I have the room, so If one stays that's fine. I told my friend don't count on them till they zip out, lol.

Well you'll get to love on them for a while.

Quote: Thats the best part! Everyone that knows my geese adores them. I raise them to be gentle, and human imprinted. I usually will not let a gosling go to a new home the first few weeks, honestly unless I know the owner personally and they have kept geese. I do charge more but I can promise a sweet, gentle gosling in good health that way.
They still alert if something isn't right, and won't accept anyone chasing or abusing them. I had some folks visit that were not watching the children, and they had started chasing my goose flock. Oh NO! Not happening here! I do not appreciate that at all, and promptly went into "Mom mode" on the kids. I raised my voice at them, and they all stopped in their tracks. I then asked the kids, "Now, did I scare you? How did that make you feel? That's how you made my geese feel. They have feelings like you do, and what you are doing scares them." My oldest fella Gee pinched one older boys leg during the whole ordeal. I think kids and parents both learned a lesson that day.

Adorable babies!

Treats... Add to that list, green peas. Mine are nuts for them!
Also, mine love my apple and pear trimmings. Bits I scrape off from around cores and ends when I'm slicing up a fresh one to eat myself. And a slice or two chopped up for them, because I'm a sucker.

And now I know that I NEED to go buy a pumpkin. I hope they like it... they can be picky with new foods sometimes. I'll start with a nice pie pumpkin, and offer them bits of the top. That way if they keep refusing it I can bake it up.

mine love fresh corn, still on the cob. Romaine lettuce, BOSS (black oil sunflower seed) shredded carrot, cabbage and broccoli, cauliflower. Of course bread in limited amounts lol. Oh and pumpkin, they will chew on it for hours.

I just got a candy roaster last night for mine they aren't as crazy about pumpkin as water melon but will eat it after they get over being afraid of it. lol
