Lol have you been to Minnesota?! The Raccoons here are the same size as a pit bull. A family friend shot a fifty pound raccoon!!

50lb raccoon that is a very scary thought. We're having coyotes coming around even in day light so far not close enough to get a good shot but right above the house howling, our son saw 2 adults this morning going down towards the river. My geese was just as scared as everyone else the day the huge red tail came down and killed my bantam hen, they are also scared of large blk snakes. I don't know if they would kill anything other than a duck or a chicken that I have to watch for since breeding season is fast approaching.

Lol and we dont just have coyotes. We have Timber wolves here and there. The dnr will deny the timbers live around here but if u have a coyote looking thing but that is way bigger than a German Sheperd u know its not a coyote. But they have been releasing predators around here and up north a little more.

Glad to hear they're releasing predators. Lots of studies proving that ecosystems thrive with active predators.
We have a ton of coyotes here, we have fields and farms on three sides of us so they're all over. Every once in a while they come in the yard. Good thing they don't get any bigger than 50lbs.

Most people hate coyotes, I really don't mind them as long as my flock is secure and my mini dachshunds are secure. We have no climb horse fencing around the half acre where my flock is but I am not sure how well coyotes can climb, it keeps bears out though.

We have Mountain lions here but no one in wild life will admit it only locals who has seen or heard them. We got to hear one once that was awesome.

Coyotes can jump high, they can scale 6'+ walls and fences. I actually saw one in my yard this morning! Strange, thought about this thread. Sent Moose out and he scared it off.

And that's awesome about the mountain lion, we have bobcats or Lynx here, not really where I live but I have friends who have them get stuck under their houses. Our big predator is the coyote and occasionally a fox. And don't forget about the vultures...
I shot a vulture off the roof with a pellet gun but it fell onto the ground (usually they fly away, I don't hit their bodies, just their feet) and it died. I was so upset but then again they did kill my poor blind goose. They haven't come back to my house since...

Well, my Embden are laying already! So we now have 2 brown chinese hens and 1 Embden hen laying. Embden are already confined separately. We have to add a house and pen, my American Buffs are hanging out with the Chinese. I have never had goose eggs year around before, very unusual!
