The first pic is a 4 week old cuckoo marans and the second pic is a 4 week old black australorp.

I'm nearly 100% sure the blk australorp is a cockerel, looks and acts like one. I'm mostly interested on what you all think about my marans.

Thanks!

What do you think about the wattle development? This is my first rodeo and I can't find much about wattle development in roos vs hens.
I have found that straight combed breeds are the easiest to sex by comb/wattle development.
I can usually tell with my chicks which ones are males at 10 days old.
The key, especially for newbies, is to actually have both sexes in your brooder.
The difference makes it very obvious.
Pullets don’t even start getting pink for many weeks- really for the first several months a pullet simply has no comb/wattle development and no pink.
The boys will though.

I have two marans, the other has a comb but no wattles and the comb is not really pink yet but def developed. What do you think about that one?
