I've been down a couple of times, and man, the Big Easy does not disappoint as a destination. I feel like I gained 20 pounds both times I was there (week at a time)Welcome, I've got some great restaurants for you to try.
BE GOOD DARLIN, AND TAKE CARE O YO MA AN DEM, TELLEM I SAY HEY!
We don't eat that way every day, although, this roughly 2 years of covid BS has caused everyone in my house to gain unwanted weight. We usually try to eat healthy with occasional splurges. And now my fridge died and we have had little time to shop for what we want next. DD leaves for Michigan this evening and we have spent a lot of time trying to get her out fitted for the difference in temperature. When she arrives there I think it will be in the teens. Here we are still in the 60's.I've been down a couple of times, and man, the Big Easy does not disappoint as a destination. I feel like I gained 20 pounds both times I was there (week at a time)![]()
I have one decent cajun place close to home (local joint owned by LA transplants), and it's a fave destination, but it's NOT the same.We don't eat that way every day, although, this roughly 2 years of covid BS has caused everyone in my house to gain unwanted weight. NOLA is really not that different than any other city it's size. We have Churchs, Businesses, people both good and bad, schools, etc. Like any city you move to you do need to know the parts of town to be careful of. Most people here are friendly and helpful. You may find while standing in a grocery line, someone you have never seen, starts a big conversation with you. We get a bad rap in the media with crime and racial issues. The truth is our racial issues are very complex, in some respects we are one people who support each other in times of need regardless. We commonly converse with people of other races, that we don't know, as if they are our next door neighbor. And here they may be our next door neighbor. With the exception of a few places our neighborhoods are very mixed and have been for many decades. We commonly have friends of different races. And at festivals and Mardi Gras the is no such thing as race, we are all just having a good time, sharing food, drinks and trinkets with whom ever you happen to be standing next to. If you are open minded, it's a great place. No to say we don't have some of the problems other cities have. Everyone here is not perfect. I am so glad you had a good time when you were here. Come on back anytime, we love visitors.I have one decent cajun place close to home (local joint owned by LA transplants), and it's a fave destination, but it's NOT the same. And you can't walk the French Quarter and fence with the hustlers in Phoenix. Or sip cocktails on a paddleboat tour. I Am not sure I could live in NOLA, but I def love to visit.
