The Ameraucana Thread: Where everything and anything about the breed can be discussed (APA, Non-Stan

Thanks for the compliments on my amercaunas. i have noticed that they are a little more aggresive than my light sussex and my sex links is that normal. also are my amercauna apa accepted colors?
The birds you posted look like they could be actual Ameraucanas. The roo looks like a young wheaten. He has a horn colored bill, not the yellow one a mixed breed would have. His eyes look like they could be bay. Cant see his legs and sitting does not give an idea of "type". The hen looks like what you would expect from a young white. Since they are different varieties they would not breed true if crossed and if you would be interested in breeding them try and pick up the opposite sex from a breeder . If you breed them, you may have white chicks since that color is usually dominant, but there will be the wheaten in the mix and if you keep the line going it will get funky with colors. So, you have options...breed a nonstandard Ameraucana with what you have or get more birds and work with the varieties, white and wheaten. Check out http://www.ameraucana.org for more info.

Whoop there it is! Nice comb and deff bay eyes. His legs should get darker with maturity. The telltell is the pad, and if its ever yellow then its not standard for an APA Amer(bc their skin is white) It looks like the start of black striping in the hackles which is very common and something wheaten breeders work with improving these days. If you choose to breed that variety google the black in the hackles. When he matures if you follow that path choose a hen that will balance out his colors or correct what he may not have alot of. It sounds like you have a breeder who can help you with that and that makes you luckier than most :) Or just breed nonstandards-whatever makes you heart sing.

Thank you for joining us! I think you will be made welcome here. Most subscribers have joined for the same reason. Regardless of an individuals opinions it is so unnecessary to respond so negatively like a lot of other subscribers do on the other Ameraucana thread. Some very knowlegable breeders have joined here who have had a lot of great wisdom to share regarding "all things Ameraucana."

I wanted to share the photos of my 6 mos. old girl ., and 7 wk. old Olive Egger, boy. The little girl, Goldie, lays bluest of the blue eggs, and are surprisingly large size for her little body. I simply love and adore her.
