Nothing wrong . It just means recessive white is in the mix . Lavender is a dilution of black . So yes the white carries black and possibly lavender . Depends on what the parents were . If they used a lavender rooster on split hens the yes the white carries lavender also . If the mating was split to split then no way to be sure . Test breeding required to find out .I'm new to BYC and hope this is ok to ask. Back in February I hatched some black split to lavender Ameraucanas. Of the 5 that hatched 2 are lavender, 2 are black, and 1 is white. The white is a cockerel and one of the lavs is a cockerel. Does the fact that one hatched white mean the genetics of these birds is flawed and I shouldn't breed them? I purchased the eggs from a breeder. If white is not considered flawed, does it carry the lavender or black gene?
I should clarify that by 'flawed' I simply mean for meeting the SOP and having SQ birds worth breeding. I understand that there's so much more than feather color to meet the SOP I just am curious where white fits in the black/lav split gene pool.
THANK YOU!!!
