She was dizzy, but she wasn’t about to tell him that. She eyed this new wolf carefully, but it didn’t seem like he wanted to hurt her, and his expression was kind and concerned. That didn’t mean that she trusted him just yet.
Hilina sighed. "My friend Dahlia had fallen through this ice a couple of weeks ago and my dad saved her. That's why you can tell a big amount of this lake was opened recently."
“Oh, I didn’t know. I’m glad she’s ok! But Why Are you Staring at the opening?”
Hilina stepped back and looked at King then down. "I don't know. I guess because it was scary?"
“You were here? As in, you witnessed it?”
"Yes. I was. Dahlia fell through just after I had gotten off the ice."
“Yes, of course, it’s freezing! Are you not cold?” She said, and then realized that was a stupid question. His coat was much thicker than hers, and he was accustomed to the cold. She suddenly wondered if this new wolf could be an asset. After all, it was clear that he was not starving, which meant that he knew how to hunt around here.
“Oh” King said, he couldn’t think of anything else to say.
Trying to change the subject, King asked Hilina “Would you like to spend the night at my den?”
