Laufen nuzzled his mother, but stopped- surprised- when he heard a second voice. Who’s that? His mind wondered. He cocked his head and tried to listen for it again as he lay snuggled next to his brother.

Hilina watched Laufen and smiled all the while. She wondered what the pup could be thinking. She licked him a little bit more.
