Jax waited a little while longer. He then walked over to Hazel and laid down in front of her and Timmy.

Hazel tried to ignore him.
Timmy found himself holding his breath again. He still pretended to be sleeping, but the strong scent of Jax was bothering him a lot.

“Hazel,” Jax said quietly, “I know you’re awake.”

Hazel sighed and opened her eyes.
Timmy heard this. He instantly started worrying that Jax would say the same thing. Trying to cover himself, he started stirring as if Jax's voice had woke him up somehow.

Jax glared at Timmy as he moved around. He looked back at Hazel, “what are you doing here?”

Hazel didn’t want to say anything about how Timmy was injured, so she didn’t answer his question, but instead, she asked, “what are you doing here?”

Timmy lightly stretched, but it caused his wounds to hurt. He slowly yawned himself awake as if he was sleeping. He opened his eyes and looked around trying to avoid eye contact with Jax.

Jax ignored Timmy. "Got something to hide, huh," he joked. "We're here because there was a mountain lion. It got Korrin, and we had to make sure it didn't get to the pups." Jax caught the scent of the cougar, "the same one that attacked Timmy." His glanced changed from Hazel to Timmy.

Hazel swallowed hard.

Timmy was slowly rolling over to on his paws when he heard his name. He looked at Jax and stared silently for a second in his eyes. "Hey." He said quietly but his usual self. Then he moved his head over to where the Mountain Lion had badly scratched him and started licking the wound as if nobody else was there.

Jax could tell he was correct.

"I was going to come see you," Hazel blurted out trying to change the subject.

"Finally came to your senses, huh? I knew you couldn't stay with Timmy forever." Jax squinted his eyes.

With his tongue on his wound, Timmy paused. Once again, Jax had hurt him. Timmy returned to licking as if he heard nothing. He did, however, start licking faster so his wound would be cleaned faster.

"No, I will be staying with Timmy. He's my mate, and that's not changing." Hazel told him confidently.

"We'll see..." Jax said under his breath.
