I have some hatching as we speak! Some black split to chocolate and some cuckoo. One out so far (I think it's a cuckoo) and the other 3 eggs that went into lockdown pipped!

My eight week old English Orpington Bantams running around and enjoying the outdoors today!!!

11 week old Buff Orpington bantams(American bloodlines) hope next spring I can get a 100% English Roo. They are both pullets and the only two I have!!!

I've fallen in love with my orpingtons. I have 3 black and 1 chocolate. I think one of our black will be a roo. Yay!

Well, the lady that bred them called them black & said she also breeds chocolate. I'm new to Orps & don't know enough to know the difference.

Black is bred to chocolate to darken the color but that gives you some chocolate off spring and some black that carry the chocolate gene.

I am looking for Buff Orpington bantams, preferably from quality lines. Anyone living on the west coast that has a pair/trio for sale??

my bantam chocolate orp is 7 months & showing no signs of laying, my lf buffs have been laying for over 2 months & are only about 8 days older. My Chocolate-Fudge still peeps & her comb & waddles have just started developing. I have read too that the fertility rate is iffy with the Chocolates (might have read that on the Greenfire site or the Marc Sacre site). Would be interested in other opinions/experiences. PCL

update, 3 weeks after my original post my Chocolate bantam laid her 1st egg 6 days ago & her second 2 days ago. Couldn't be prouder of her, she still peeps though except occasionally when she barks. Makes a sound just like the annoying little dog behind us. Usually when she is trying to get past the cats. They just look at her. Thanks to all of you who took time to respond. Patience is a virtue.
PS: She is also just beautiful, classic Greenfire, very English. PCL
