Chance had just woken up and take a shower.  He put his arm back in his sling and went downstairs to eat.

(What happened to his arm again? )

Festus will fins out soon enough)

Why? Something tells me it has to do with the memeruk. )

"Well we don't always get what we want to we." He was quite agitated. "Lainey you and I need to have a talk. Festus you have little time I suggest you catch Chance while he's eating." He pointed to the dining room. then grabbed Hellaina's hand and whisked her away. ...Ykran has probably blabbed by now. -.- )

Festus walked into the dining room. "Hello, Chance."

Chance had a black eye and his arm in a sling. "Yup..." He was munching on a Danish.

He actually smiled when he heard Helaina growl and entered the shuttle.

They arrived at the town or larkspur and it was far less hostile there.   Calliope was a bit more relaxed too.  Ferris the Memeruk colt that had been playing with Silver an others other during the romp  gave a close study of Festus, as they walked by.

Festus was much calmer here too. He nodded at Ferris and continued back to Ellanore's.

Hellaina walked inside and Calliope darted to find her friends.


Illykran was waiting for them. 



"I though you were supposed to be on vacation?"  Hellaina asked.


"Well we don't always get what we want to we."  He was quite agitated.  "Lainey you and I need to have a talk.  Festus you have little time I suggest you catch Chance while he's eating."  He pointed to the dining room.  then grabbed Hellaina's hand and whisked her away.

"I never made it up."   He seemed to be struggling to chew.  "No good Ellanore try something I don't have to chew please."  He flopped the Danish down on the plate.  "You boys pay full price plus I want protection on any supply runs through or near your territory...  for a month... if I like the boys they are hired.  Illykran assures me it wasn't your branch.... and If I find otherwise no trader will do business with Valdan." 

(No Centaurian trader! The cats only hold personal grudges, not in group. )

"Valdan hasn't raided since he overthrew Barabus. And he especially wouldn't when wanting to trade later."

"That's what I have been told.. but I still need an even fight . I had 2 guys with 2-3 feet in height on me.. manage to bypass my nullifiers. Got half the cargo... I had 5 ships 2 came back and I lost both security escorts. This is north of your Territory mind you." Ellanore brought him some oatmeal. "Thank you mom." He stirred in the topping she had put on it. "I can get you what you need.. just give me the list.. You can verify the good once I send you the transcripts.. you can inspect the goods. I will meet with your ships for the transfer.. I am not landing on any of your planets. But your hide goes with to pick out the security detail Pelig is also being lent to me until they are chosen. I am lucky to be returning to my wife and foals." He tasted it but it was too hot.

"Lainey is what Ykran telling me true? He came to me this morning and told me I needed to transfer the files to ..." Illykran started out and got cut off.

"You mean it hadn't already been done yet?" She felt her heart sink.

Illy noted her confusion. "Did he trick you into doing something you didn't want to? Because I made it clear that he had to ask permission from me first.. at least to show a little thread of decency!"

Lainey was a little besides herself. "I told this to Ykrus to get him to back off... I know I can't be with him in his position, and I know he is supposed to marry Bambi..."

"We'll he doesn't know that yet... but continue."

"Ykran overheard it and Festus told me he switched the files.... I... I... He.... well it doesn't matter it is to late. I am his now." She wiped a tear away. "I mean I knew it would happen anyhow. He was too attached to shake and Even with my resistance training I was suckered. I fell in love with him. I just wanted Lolli to be better first."

If there's a written contract, yes, otherwise no. The cats learn through each mistake, considering it a fair trade in exchange for the strategical information. And while they won't trade with an individual that raided, as an Empire, they won't care. Look at it this way; If someone's smart enough to get through their defenses, they deserve the goods. Sheesh.)

Festus forwarded Valdan's two lists to Chance's comm. "I will still need to speak with Valdan on your terms, though they seem reasonable enough."

"They have good reason an you know it.... maybe you should sell your house.. Keep the money and I can give you a place here. last I checked there were four open houses." He handed her a tissue.

"I cannot accept that you have already done too much for me." She blew her nose.

"You raised Ykran.. helped keep my son at bay for years.... you also helped me with th orphans.. no there is no counting favors here. Just don't t him take you anywhere without my knowing first. Calliope is too fragile to go back if he tries anything. which as his wife he has the right to do so unless you fall under the abuse law."

"I will talk to him... but that is my home... and the town will get used to him... Thank you Illy." She hugged him. "You are upset though... are you okay?"


"Oh I got dumped... and I have a mare that once ripped my heart out come back into my life... and I am skeptical of that too.

"You have the worst problems.... why don't try a different approach.... clean slate... let the mare come to you this time. You always brush those off. "

"Hey the stallion does the chasing not the mare." He raised a brow. "Now are you going to chew him out or do I get to?"

"I don't want to agitate him you do it." She shook her head and wiped her last tear.
