The Beagle thread: For all the beagle lovers

I took her in at about 8 am this morning he took the blood, and said "shes looking good, shes not looking like she missed to many meals, are you sure she isn't eating something you don't know about?" I said she is looking good because I filled her with pizza, chicken gizzards and hotdogs last night, the only thing she could be eating other then what I give her is cat poop or dog poop or grass. She is in a fenced yard when she is outside, and the cat litter is in the basement, I would think we would notice her going down for some kitty crunchies. He is not to concerned about the not eating because she has had this problem since a pup, just not this extreme. When we first took her in he said she was underweight (at about 8 weeks) we said she doesn't want to eat dog food, she just picks at it. He said just don't give in and give her people food or she will never want to eat dog food. For one year she had nothing but dog food, mostly dry with occasionlly some canned when I felt bad she hadn't eaten in days. At her year checkup he said, she is still way underweight, we again explained the dog food issues, he said try feeding her meat, fresh meat, rice, etc to get some "meat on her bones". So we did. It was amazing to see our picky dog gulp down a bowl of cooked meat (she would refuse raw) Here is a link I did on trying to get her to switch to raw a while ago.

she has always been the kind of dog that can go from bones one day to nice and thick looking, almost chunky after a good meal, then the next day she goes outside for a half hour, and runs it all off comes in looking skinny again.
Well I have to go to work. I will give her a bit of chicken gizzards before I go. Something last night gave her runny poo. That was fun to clean up off the kitchen floor this morning, while she sat on her pillow looking ashamed. Poor girl.

I will check this when I get home tonight
Thanks again everyone. thekid your beagles are adorable!

If she likes the moist food even if its corn mix that in with the chicken gizzards I think if she is eating something its better then nothing. I also try mixing a dry with the moist food. Some dogs just like certain foods. I know mine love kibble and bits not the best food but they love it they also love pedigree but won't eat the iams or science diet. So I feed them what they will eat. I do give them raw eggs once in a while. Good luck.

The vet called yesterday, said her blood work looks good. Her white and red blood cell counts are good, and that we just need to really work to find foods she will eat. Thursday night I got a bag of kibbles n bits and a box of moist and meaty dog food pouches, as well as her ceaser moist food. She ate an intire bowl of kibbles n bits! Friday morning she ate the whole pouch of the moist and meaty, as well as her little containter of ceaser moist food. I took her with me to my moms yesterday, where she was given little bits of table food which she eagerly ate. A new pet store was opened in my moms small town and we went in to check it out. They gave me free samples of pro plan, royal canin and earthborn holistic, all puppy foods. I put a small handfull of each down last night, she sniffed it and walked away. This morning I put her pouch of moist and meaty on top , and then a handfull of chicken gizzards she ate the gizzards, and some of the moist and meaty and is now laying on the floor looking like she would like some treats. If she hasn't eaten any of the dry food by the time I get home tonight at 8:30 I will give it to the big dogs and give her the kibbles and bits again.
Sunday will be 5 weeks if I counted right last night, I hope she is pregnant, but if she is she isn't really showing yet.

Oh that's great that she is eating!

Apparently.. she just wants her junk foods

I suppose that just means she can have whatever she wants LOL!

It always took a while for Rosie dear to show... a few times I felt the puppies before I could see them! If you are laying with her and sit with your hand on her tummy, you might feel the first little head bumps and kicks before she gets big

I am so excited! I had been trying not to keep track of the weeks because it was going so slowly then I counted and today is five weeks! Wow it has gone so quickly, this morning she had some chicken livers, and a pack of the moist and meaty dog food. Last night I mixed a cup of the kibbles and bits with the other premium foods and she nibbled at it. She is such a weird eater she will pick one piece up at a time, but not just any one piece it must be a piece from the side of the bowl and she will nose them all around to find the one she wants, she then delicately chews it and then spends a minute or so searching for the next piece she wants, I would think she is just eating the ones she likes best but last night she wanted me in the kitchen with her while she ate (if I went to living room she would come in and whine, i would go to the door as that is usually her signal to go out, she would start eating instead.) and I noticed she was eating some of the kibbles in bits of all the colors and occasionally a piece of the small round premium food (all three look similar so I cant tell you which it was)
well off to work I am. Hope you all have a good day. Cute picture by the way yetti!

Can anyone help me identify what breeds my Molly dog is mixed with? I know she is part beagle but she has ticking on her back and a slim head and face, golden eyes, and no black on her. Also she is 6.5 months old in these photos

She is very cute! Are you sure she is mixed. If so maybe a German shorthair pointer or some type of hound.
