The beginnings of a second coop...so far mostly upcycled.

So, our first coop (the clean coops daisy design that you can see in these pics) was quite expensive to build, but I also think we needed the plans and to follow it exactly to feel like we knew what we are doing. Now, we are adding another coop for our newest flock members and have designed it all ourselves and have gathered materials from wherever possible. We have been given lots of 2X4s and 2X6s from a couple decks and some privacy fencing, which we intend for siding. Our neighbor had a nice, big vinyl replacement window that we will be putting into the run side of the coop. The wall went up today, but it was after I took the picture. And this nice solid wooden door was something we had picked up years ago on craigslist for $15 intending to use it in our old house. In these pics, we have two walls up, all four are up now. We laid the vinyl floor piece before putting the walls on. We got that sheet of vinyl for $25 on clearance at the big box store as none of our friends had any vinyl flooring laying around. Still, a good deal and we are still under $100 spent so far on this coop.
Will post more pics as we make progress.

I'm envious, and happy for you! I too have been looking for something second hand to use for a second coop. I spent a FORTUNE building my first coop and run, and have set some $ aside for the second run, as I have to go as heavy duty as I did the first one. Live in a rural, area with 200 acres of woods behind my property with the entire rundown of predators that live in the Northeast. I was hoping for a used she on CL, but the idea you have is perhaps something I should consider too. My sister just took down a huge wood deck to put in a paver patio, I should head over there to see if there is any salvageable wood and start there. Please keep the pictures coming, and Good Luck!

PS.. Love the first coop, and how they will be connected by the run.
