Okay so admittedly I’m a duck person. I have a small backyard flock that I keep for eggs.

I do LOVE chickens though as do my kids. After seeing & interacting with them I find myself adoring the bigger breeds. So I think I will take the plunge & get a few chicks this spring. I’m already set up other than adding a roosting bar & boxes.

1 breed that particularly interests me is the Beilfelder. The size as well as the colouring draw me in. After research it seems they do fairly decent with laying as well compared to other big breeds like Brahmas & Cochins.

I would like to know though peoples 1st hand experience with them? Temperament, feeding, egg laying, hardiness..etc.

I will not have any roosters as I’m not zoned for them. So breeding habits & specifics doesn’t matter.

I just hatched my first Bielefelder so I can’t tell you much yet about her personality but there is another thread with some information. Let me go see if I can find it for you :)

I’m sorry, for some reason I cannot figure out how to copy the link on my phone right now. But it’s called....My Bielefelder experience I bet you could look it up in the search bar.
