The Best all around reliable Automatic Chicken Door (Sunrise or Specific time)

my apologies for starting another thread but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

Is there such a chicken door that works automatically with the sunrise/set and that can also be set for a specific time?

The Pullet Shut door can be programmed to work either way. We love ours. I highly recommend them.

Thanks, I was also wondering how long have you been using your automatic door and or how has it been in winter with freezing temp.?

We have had ours for 4 or 5 months, so no personal experience with cold temps. Ours opens into a covered run, so it will be protected from any buildup of snow or ice. The manufacturer suggests building a bit of shelter or awning over the door if it is exposed to ice and snow.

With your door do you have to run power to the coop or how does it work?

I have the same door and it is solar powered. Solar is an option. You can do it either way. I love mine, but also have not been through a winter and ours aren't that sever anyway.

I like the power doors that move up and down (guillotine style) as opposed to the swing open kind.

I'm still building my coop and probably have another week before I have to decide on coop opening, so for now I'm pretty sure that I will go with the Murray McMurray one. It seems to have everything I will need.
