I am hatching my eggs in the hatcher drawer of the Sportsman and need a BETTER way to keep the chicks separated at hatch time. I do not want to open the door too often and as of now I am using plastic baskets, a suet feeder cage and a plastic tomato container with large air vents in the clear plastic lid. It is make-do and I would like some advice on how everyone else accomplishes keeping their chicks separated into specific groups?

I'm going to be using some breeder baskets I'll make from 1/2" hardware cloth. Basically, a box made of hardware cloth. Put eggs into it at lockdown.

That is what I am thinking to do too. I had some suet cages that I am using, they work great but I only have two. They need to be tall enough to hold eggs and chicks but not so tall as to hinder the bottom tray from turning. I sure wish I had a separate hatcher, that will be my next major purchase.
