Unfortunately I wasn't able to get pics.

Yesterday I went to a new nursery type place and in the back, in a small pen, they had a whole bunch of farm animals. I was standing there marveling at all of them when all of a sudden I saw HIM. He was the biggest freekin roo I have ever seen in my life! He looked just like a BO but I swear was almost 3' tall. IT WAS CRAZY! My bf saw him and was struck speechless.

So then, I am going to this new feed store on the way home and I'm wandering around out back and then I see HER. OMG the biggest freekin hen I've ever seen in my life. She looked EXACTLY like the roo, just like a BO but SO huge! She HAD to have been AT LEAST twice as big as my girls.

What are these crazy freaks!??!

I don't know, but I assume that the chicken world is similar to the dog world in that specific breeds have a breed standard, but you also get animals within the breed that are way huge or way small for the breed. Somewhere here there is a thread about Nugget, who was a cross between unknowns and was over 32 inches tall. It happens here and there.

Take pics! And ask for eggs! Get us a new breed to go nuts over. What are you WAITING for!!!???

Seriously though, the very least you could do for us is post pics now, c'mon!

I'm thinking of going back with my camera JUST to take pics! I mean seriously this roo was bigger than the geese!!! LoL

It was at a place called City Farms in San Diego.

I just thought it was SO odd that these two completely different places BOTH had HUGE chickens that looked EXACTLY the same, AND I saw them on the same day! Weird!

I had a blue orphington hen that was just huge. I was told that the blue black and splash orphingtons get really big but she was so huge I ws wondering if she was part turkey. I have since sold her and wish I had't because I have another one and she is black. She is 4 months old and is as big as my americauna hens full grown. She's not done growing. I need to get a roo for her so I can get more. The reason I sold the one I had before last year is because I could't find a roo for her. Maybe next year i'll get some eggs and try for a roo. I'll have to get a pic of her.

I will definitely get pics. The place with the roo is a good 45 mins from me though so it might be a few days before I can make it over there. HOWEVER the place with the hen is like 10 mins from me, so I will have to go get pics next time I run to the store!
