The bluest chicken eggs

I have Whiting True Blue and their eggs are a powder blue. Definitely blue but wondering if anyone has darker eggs available. View attachment 1765420

I have one WTB and her eggs are about the same shade of powder blue as yours. One of my EE hens lays a pale blue egg as well; the others lay varying shades of green. I'm still wondering if one particular breed lays a bluer egg or if it's more dependent on the individual chicken.

It can be particular to the line of the blue laying breed.
Unfortunately not many breeders focus on egg color when culling.

The bluest eggs I've had were from an EE...
...my CCL are barely blue, a big disappointment and made for muddy olive egger eggs.

Araucanas(colloncas, rapa nui) Ameraucanas and to a lesser extend EEs lay a more opaque and many times glossy blue eggs, but Cream Legbars have more matte looking eggs.

here is an old picture I found I posted many years ago, unfortunately it's long gone so just a smaller version exist.

glossy on the left, matte on the right.

Glossy is recessive to Matte.

So true. Same with dark layers. Marans, Penedesencas and Barnevelders will quickly lose the dark hue if not selected for.
